Supported by Capital District Lions Clubs

Thank you to the Lions and Lioness Clubs of Region N, Zone A. Collectively, these clubs designated the Association for the Hearing Impaired as their "Zone Project." Together, they donated enough money to enable us to purchase several new pieces of needed equipment for our loan out program. We very much appreciate the ongoing support of our local Lions and Lioness Clubs.

Advocacy Help
The Americans with Disabilities Act has was signed in to law in July of 1990. Unfortunately, many business and public agencies are not yet in compliance when it comes to serving patrons with a hearing impairment. If you are having trouble getting the services to which you are entitled, or if you are having trouble with an issue of public accessibility, there is help. Call or email Richard Warrender, 1-800-522-4369 (voice or TTY), our New York State Advocate for Persons with Disabilities.
Director's Message
Hello Everyone!
The Be A Hear-O fundraiser was a success! A good time was had by all, including yours truly. I enjoyed meeting many people last Saturday and was so pleased by everyone's enthusiasm. The committee members, Therese O'Neill, Theresa Redden, Joann Zales, Robbin Murdoch, Tammy Monroe, and Sue Palumbos were fantastic! They worked very hard with optimism and an unflagging faith that the fundraiser would go on without a hitch, which it did. Please, when you see one of the girls, give them a pat on the back for a job well done! Thank you girls!
One final thing: the Sign Language Cafe next month will be the last one until September. Sadly, this will be Billy Searles' last run. Billy is leaving and moving out of state. Please join us next month to have one final chat with Billy and let him know that he will be missed here.
